23. Sign from Smitty's Marina
Henry Smith, one of Gibsons' early pioneers, purchased Deluxe Fishing and Guide services, renaming it Smitty's Marina. He already operated a successful Chandlery in the "blue house" adjacent to the Marina. Today as in years gone by you can dock your boat here, but you'll have to go elsewhere for fuel and bait. This original sign is well-taken care of in the Museum. 2006.007.01 |
24. Relic's Jacket
The most die-hard Beachcombers fans often ask themselves: What would Relic do? In reality, he would most of the time, his answer would be just go out and salvage some stray logs, so perhaps this is not so useful in everyday life. This is the original plaid jacket worn by Relic for many episodes of the Beachcombers; CBC staff would patch up the jacket year after year so it would maintain it’s essential “Relic-ness”. 2007.006.01 |
